  UK charity "Refuge" gives response to WT article on domestic abuse

  i'm sure by now you are all aware of the feb 15th, 2012 study edition of the watchtower, and its outrageous experience depicting domestic violence.. as you may know, i have been looking into the matter in some detail.

  i decided to contact the uk domestic abuse charity "refuge".

  they indicated their concern towards the article and offered to help in any way they could.

  " The Society's approach to domestic abuse is directly linked with its approach to divorce, and the sanctity of marriage. Put simply, the Society is more interested in preserving the sanctity of marriage than they are in preserving human life."

  May I suggest also that this approach is a variant of their policies on child molestation; it's another instance whereby the WT seeks to shield the sociological problems ("dirty laundry") of their flock from the gaze of the general public and away from the courts in yet another bid to prop up their claims of being the "happiest people on earth."

  Just How Self-Centered Are JWs?

  i just received a brochure from a midwestern travel agency operated by jws that specialized in bethel tours.

  i found this excerpt, relating to one item on the itinerary, as visit toe the holoccaust museum in washington quite interesting: "the museum is dedicated to presenting the story of how more than 30,000 jehovah's witnesses were persecuted by the nazis.

  apparently the tour operators consider the slaugther of more than 6 million jews unworthy of mention!

  ... nor do they ever mention that including that the Nazi lumped a significant number of the Russelite Bible Student "standfasters" who split over the WT over the Rutherford takeover with the the JWs in the "Purple Triangle" category.

  New Field Service Policy - jw's assigned to neighborhoods

  i am looking for confirmation on the following:.

  jws are now being individually assigned to smaller territories, and they are told to consistently work that same territory over & over again.

  the reason is that the watchtower wants the jws to build relationships with the people in that area.

  Catching the Manipulation in Sunday’s Watchtower Article

  inspired by many on jwn board, my goal is to every sunday study the article and find the manipulative parts.

  if you would like to join me that would be great!

  we can then find them together and then find what the scriptures or insights truly means with research, our own understanding, or maybe how it should be interpreted to ones self.

  " The branch is full of hypocrites, they deny the rank and file what they themselves enjoy, let's see- great room and board, free medical / dental and computers etc. not to mention building a huge recreation complex at the "farm" with a cushy retirement home for CO's, DO's and big wiggs etc."

  ... and not to mention a virtual "pass" on going on in field service and attending meetings with the local yokels, by invoking "Bethel duties"

  Why don't JWs do much in the way of charity work?

  so i argue with the boyfriend a lot about the fact that i think charitable work is every bit as important as preaching when it comes to serving god.

  every church i've ever gone to has some sort of community outreach, if not several outreaches, that have little or nothing to do with preaching.

  and i made the point that if these people know you're affiliated with a church, they'll think a little more kindly about christians, too, which would help in the whole witnessing arena.

  dear brothers and sisters, i watched a disturbing video on youtube of this born-againer beating the hell out of some old timers in utah( i think.

  ) and his conduct was hideous, not christlike one bit.

  the question i pose to you is this, how many jws were you truly impressed by their use of the bible?

  Ding, I agree entirely. The competence of the average JW to defend his/her beliefs with just the Bible in hand is at an all-tme low, and likely to get lower. As you say, they run for cover whenever a householder shows any semblance of ability to refute/contest any of their prepared statements.

  i would like to relate with the first suicide that took place this year, this was more than seven months ago.

  this person was deeply distraught and was talking about killing themself.

  the conduct of this person started to escalate (deep depression with morbid thoughts.

  Gubberningbody, I beg to differ: The incessant pressure to "do more" and put-down of any effort to fulfil one's perfectly normal desire for self-affirmation or personal worth through development of one's talents is unique to JWs, and an enormous contributor to one's sense of worthlessness.

  the control that this organization has over it`s members... is ..is ... well it`s a cult !!
